Fabric Mosaic Bookmarks
In creating my initial Bible Clutches, and cutting pieces from the deconstructed men’s dress shirts, I saved almost all of my extra fabric scraps.
I enjoy the challenge of working with limitations while creating… in this case, materials. Can I make something special with just ‘leftovers’?
After long sewing sessions with the more exacting and meticulous Bible clutch work, it was a welcomed break to create in a different, looser type of way while using the same materials and equipment. These little pieces are still time consuming, but have a different rhythm and feeling that I really enjoy.
I have created 10 bookmarks so far. 4 are double sided and 6 are single sided. I adore them. They are precious, special little pieces of original art. Their style, to me, is a type of ‘doodling’ and/or ‘folk art’. I am a big fan of both of these styles / ways of creating!
In addition to the ‘original art’ bookmarks I have listed, I plan to offer ‘prints’ of these same pieces. I will hope to list those options soon.
